The App is available globally and translated into EN, DE, PT, ES, FR, and IT.

By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

• Email address (Apple Login or Google Login)
• Text check-ins and journaling entries
• Word selections and alignment tracking
• Voice transcripts produced by Apple's speech-to-text
• In-app preferences and language settings

We do not store raw audio recordings.

2.2 Automatically Collected Information

• Device information (model, OS version, app version)
• Usage analytics (session length, features used, check-in frequency)
• Crash logs and errors
• Subscription status (via RevenueCat)
• Timezone (approximate location)
• IP address (via Supabase security logs)

2.3 Information Used for AI Features

We send the following to AI providers (OpenAI and Anthropic):

• Journaling text
• Voice transcription text
• Word selections and contextual features

AI providers do not store or train on user data.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Generate personalized insights
• Operate the App and core features
• Improve user experience
• Verify subscriptions
• Monitor performance and prevent misuse
• Troubleshoot issues

We do not sell personal data.

4. Legal Bases (GDPR / UK GDPR)

We process data under:

• Performance of a contract (providing the App)
• Legitimate interests (analytics, security, performance)
• Consent (AI processing, voice transcription)
• Legal compliance

5. Sharing of Information

5.1 Service Providers (Processors)

We may share data with:

• Supabase - authentication, database, logs
• RevenueCat - subscriptions
• OpenAI & Anthropic - AI-generated insights

These providers process data only on our behalf.

5.2 International Transfers

Data may be stored or processed in the United States or other countries. Where required, transfers rely on Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs).

6. Data Retention

• User-generated content is kept until the user deletes their account.
• After deletion, logs and backups may persist for up to 90 days.
• AI providers do not retain user content.

8. Data Deletion

You may delete your account at any time:

Profile → Delete Account

This permanently removes:

• Email
• Journaling entries
• Check-ins
• Word selections
• Voice transcripts
• AI insights
• Subscription association

9. Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from users under 13.

10. Security

We use encryption, secure authentication, and managed cloud infrastructure. No system is fully secure; use the App at your own risk.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy. Continued use of the App indicates acceptance.

Terms of Use

By using Word of the Year, you agree to these Terms of Use.

2. Eligibility

Users must be at least 13 years old.

3. Account Registration

Accounts are created using:

• Sign in with Apple
• Sign in with Google

You are responsible for maintaining access to your account.

4. Subscriptions and Billing

Premium functionality requires a subscription.

• Monthly and yearly plans
• 30-day free trial
• Billing managed by Apple and Google via RevenueCat

Refunds

Refunds are handled exclusively by:

• Apple App Store
• Google Play Store

Asobi Labs does not issue refunds directly.

5. User Content

User-generated content includes:

• Journaling entries
• Check-in text
• Voice-input transcripts
• Word selections

Users retain ownership of their content.

You grant Asobi Labs a limited license to process content solely for:

• Personal insights
• Displaying your history
• Debugging and analytics

We do not share your content with other users.

6. AI-Generated Output

AI insights:

• May be incorrect or incomplete
• Are informational only
• Are not a substitute for professional or medical advice

7. Prohibited Use

Users may not:

• Reverse engineer or scrape the App
• Interfere with servers
• Upload harmful or illegal content
• Misrepresent identity

8. Termination

We may suspend or terminate accounts for violating these Terms. Users may delete their account at any time.

9. Disclaimer

The App is for reflection and journaling support only. It is not a psychological, therapeutic, or medical tool.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

• Asobi Labs is not liable for indirect or consequential damages.
• Total liability is limited to the amount paid in the previous 12 months.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of New York, USA.

We may update these Terms. Continued use of the App means acceptance.

Refund Policy

Users must request refunds through their platform's official system.

Asobi Labs does not provide refunds directly.
